Tapered Portico Pillars

Hardwood portico pillars handcrafted in our joinery workshop and installed by our building division

These pillars were commissioned to replace the originals that had become rotten over many decades.

They taper towards the top so needed careful calculations by our joiners to produce trapezoid lengths that would narrow at the top. These were bonded together to create two dodecagon (12 sided ) tubes.

Our joiners built a dedicated giant wood lathe to mount the tubes and turned them to the smooth rounded shape they now have. Finally, our paintshop finished the pillars with protective coatings.
